65 Nigerians deported from around Europe countries arrived Nigeria yesterday Friday, January 25.
According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN in Lagos, the deportees came from Spain, Bulgaria, Romania and the United Kingdom.
A FAAN official, who pleaded anonymity, revealed to reporters at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport’s cargo section in Lagos that the deportees arrived at 7.40am and were made up of 48 men, 12 women and five children.
He explained that they were arrested for allegedly having expired documents and being illegal aliens.
The source said that eight of the deportees, including three women, were deported for alleged criminal offences.
Reports alleged that the five male deportees initially resisted arrest, but were later persuaded to cooperate by the policemen.
In total, police immediately arrested eight people from the number deported and took them straight to the Criminal Investigation Department, Nigerian Police Force, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos, in a Toyota pick-up with registration number “Ontario AZKC-549.”
